MOCIT, DOIB (http://www.doinepal.gov.np/ ) is responsible for distribution of Amateur Radio License in Nepal. Interested ones can apply to MOCIT for licence by taking an examination.

नेपाल सरकार, सञ्चार तथा सूचना प्रविधि मन्त्रालयले रेडियो संचार (लाइसेन्स) नियमावली, २०४९ बमोजिम एमेच्योर रेडियो कन्ट्रोल अपरेटर वा एमेच्योर रेडियो संचालक लाइसेन्सको योग्यता पुगेका इच्छुक व्यक्तिहरुले उक्त नियमावली को अनुसूची-१(घ) बमोजिम दरखास्त भरी परीक्षा दस्तुर रु. ४००।– बुझाएको नगदी रसिद, २ प्रति auto साइजको फोटो र एक प्रति नागरिकताको प्रमाणपत्रको प्रतिलिपि संलग्न गरी मन्त्रालयको फ्रिक्वेन्सी व्यवस्थापन तथा विश्लेषण शाखामा पेश गर्नुपर्ने हुन्छ | मन्त्रालयले बर्षमा दुइ पटकसम्म परिक्षा लिने गरेको छ | परिक्षा सम्बन्धि सम्पूर्ण नोटिस मत्रालयको वेबसाइटमा राखिन्छ ( नोटिस हेर्नुहोस )|

१६ वर्ष उमेर पुगेको नेपाली नागरिक ।
नेपाली र अंग्रेजी दुवै भाषामा राम्रो बोल्ने र लेख्न सक्ने ।

Sample Form for Amateur Radio Licence
You have to fill Bank Voucher and paste a mail stamp at your application. Please ask them the details information to fill in the voucher.
You can buy the post stamps near to the office where you submit the application for Rs 10. Bank voucher is also available there at the office.

Best be there at the first hour. You need to be on time when bank inside SinghaDurbar takes the payment (generally before 3 PM) and make sure that an officer is present there to take your application otherwise you have to return back feeling helpless.
Call them to make sure that there will be some officer present to do your work as well.
Don't forget to carry citizenship for any government service.
Application can be submitted in groups and it will be a lot faster and time saving if you collaborate, collect all the filled application and submit it at once.
Note: You need a gate pass to enter Singhadurbar. and ask them to register a gate pass for you.
There is a cheap and clean canteen inside just in front of MoCIT.

You need to contact MOCIT, Frequency Division at Tilganga (Near to Airport, Map) for issuing new licence with the application form and photocopy of your citizenship card. It is a single day job but it might be delayed due to various reasons.
Download Form for IOE Amateur Radio Club Members who passed the amateur radio licence.

You need to pay Rs 600 while collecting the issued licence only. That means you can just submit the application and wait for a few days to collect the issued licence by paying the fee. You need to deposit the amount at bank at the account detail given by MOCIT.

You don't need to worry a bit! Ham community is very helpful to everyone. Even without a radio you can connect to other hams with software. If you are planning to buy a radio soon you can take a help from other hams. First follow the steps below to register yourself to be eligible to use software online and connect to Nepali ham community.
1. Add yourself to 9N Ham Database. Your name might be there already. Be sure to cross check.
2. Download and install EchoLink on your computer. After you put your call-sign on the software you need to validate your call-sign online through this link. Only after validation you can use Echolink. It normally takes 24 hrs. Nepali language in licence adds difficulty for validation. You need to take a picture of your licence and submit there. Make sure you justify about Nepali dates and your current situation clearly so that you get verified easily. You can also install Echolink app on mobile. Search in your app store and enjoy.
3. Register yourself on QRZ. Contact 9N1GM (Sushant Gautam ) if you need help with registration.
4. Join our repeater or Emergency net . You can also connect to any worldwide stations through Echo-link.

You need to contact MOCIT, Frequency Division at Tilganga (Near to Airport, Map) for licence renewal yearly with Rs 300 and your licence.
Sample Form and Voucher is shown below. You need to deposit the amount at bank at the account detail given by MOCIT. You will be fined if you fail to submit the application within end of Ashar.
